Everything went according to plan when fifth ranked HAKRO Merlins II (8-5) won against on the road 14th ranked Tuebingen II (3-10) 76-70 on Saturday. Naturalized Croatian guard Leo Vrkas (191-91, college: Carson-Newman) fired 24 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Serbian point guard Aleksa Kovacevic (190-2) chipped in 16 points and 9 assists. Matti Sorgius (196-1) produced 27 points and 7 rebounds and Nico Hihn added 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. HAKRO Merlins II moved-up to third place in South-West, which they share with Idstein. Tuebingen II lost their third game in a row. They keep the fourteenth position with ten games lost. HAKRO Merlins II will face TV Langen (#7) on the road in the next round. Tuebingen II will play against Giessen Pointers (#8) and hope to win that game.
