Regular Season Round 14: Saarlouis/Dillingen - Mannheim 72-70

Not a big story in a game when 10th ranked Mannheim (5-8) was edged on the road by sixth ranked Saarlouis/Dillingen (7-6) 72-70 on Sunday. However just two-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Saarlouis/Dillingen looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American guard Ricky Easterling (189-83, college: Bridgewater) fired 20 points and 9 assists for the winners. Center Nicholas Burgard (208-94, college: Northern NM) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. Swingman Alexander Kuhn (198-92) produced 27 points and 8 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) and Tobias Faller added 14 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Mannheim's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. The victory was the third consecutive win for Saarlouis/Dillingen. They moved-up to fifth place in South-West, which they share with Fellbach. Loser Mannheim keeps the tenth position with eight games lost. Saarlouis/Dillingen will face league's leader Karlsruhe SC on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Mannheim will play against Stuttgart (#13) and hope to win that game.
