Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Istanbul: Fenerbahce (#1) and Arel Univ (#7). Arel Univ was crushed at home by 20 points 61-81 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Fenerbahce dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Arel Univ's 34. They outrebounded Arel Univ 50-33 including a 37-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Azerbaijani center Saadettin Donat (204-1) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and forward Ege Ulker (197-2) chipped in 16 points and 9 rebounds. Four Fenerbahce players scored in double figures. At the losing side Cenk Aydin (-2) responded with 17 points and 5 rebounds and Berat Akin (-2) scored 6 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for Fenerbahce. They maintain first place with 12-1 record, which they share with TAC NEF and Tofas. Loser Arel Univ dropped to the eighth position with nine games lost. They share it with Bursaspor and Tesvikiye. Fenerbahce will meet at home Turk Telekom (#4) in the next round. Arel Univ will play against Ozel Gelisim Koleji (#5) and hope to secure a win.
