Regular Season Round 9: Dynamo-NPU - Rivne 75-72

The most exciting game of round 9 in the Superleague took place in Kyiv. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 4th placed BK Rivne (4-5) to second ranked Dynamo-NPU (6-2) 75-72 on Saturday evening. BK Rivne trailed by 12 points at halftime and as many as 19 after three quarters before a 28-12 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 72-75 at the end of the game. Dynamo-NPU made 19-of-21 free shots (90.5 percent) during the game. Strangely BK Rivne outrebounded Dynamo-NPU 44-29 including a 20-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was Nataliia Tsiubyk (178-98) who scored 22 points and 6 rebounds. Power forward Viktoriya Babych (183-99) chipped in 9 points and 10 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was center Tetiana Havrylchyk (193-0) who recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points and 15 rebounds and forward Liudmyla Spyrydonova (180-84) added 5 points and 14 rebounds respectively. BK Rivne's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Defending champion maintains second place with 6-2 record having eight points less than leader Kyiv Basket. BK Rivne at the other side keeps the fourth position with five games lost. Dynamo-NPU are looking forward to face Chaika (#5) in Berdiansk in the next round. BK Rivne will play at home against Frankivsk and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
