Regular Season Round 9: Zaporizhye - Cherkasy 85-80

There was a small surprise when eighth ranked Zaporizhye (5-11) beat 6th ranked Cherkasy (6-7) in Zaporozhye 85-80 on Sunday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Cherkasy won third quarter 27-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Zaporizhye shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 61.9 percentage. It was a good game for American guard Lewis Stallworth (185-96, college: Citadel) who led his team to a victory with 18 points and 9 assists. International forward Andrii Myronenko (198-94) contributed with 27 points (perfect behind the arc making all nine shots !!!) for the winners. Swingman Olexandr Belikov (201-92) answered with 23 points and 9 rebounds and American forward Dion Wright (201-93, college: St.Bonaventure) added 10 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Cherkasy. Five Cherkasy players scored in double figures. Cherkasy's coach Maksym Mikhelson tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Zaporizhye maintains eighth place with 5-11 record. Loser Cherkasy keeps the sixth position with seven games lost. Zaporizhye will face league's second-placed Prometey in Kamianske in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
