There was an upset when higher ranked Darussafaka (7-7) lost to ninth ranked Pinar Karsiyaka (3-11) in Istanbul 88-92 on Sunday. Strangely Darussafaka outrebounded Pinar Karsiyaka 48-36 including a 22-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Inanc Hotamis (-1) orchestrated the victory by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds. Bosnian Asim Gutic contributed with 22 points for the winners. Center Mahmut Celik (206-1) replied with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 25 rebounds and 7 assists and Hasan Uzun (189-3) added 18 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) in the effort for Darussafaka. Darussafaka's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Pinar Karsiyaka maintains ninth position with 3-11 record. Loser Darussafaka keeps the fourth place with seven games lost. Pinar Karsiyaka will face higher ranked Ormanspor (#5) in Ankara in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Darussafaka's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Istanbul FMV Isik BB.
