Regular Season Round 15: Deutsch-Wagram - BBU Salzburg 99-90

There was a small surprise when twelfth ranked Deutsch-Wagram (1-14) beat at home 9th ranked BBU (5-10) 99-90 on Sunday. BBU trailed by 11 points at halftime and as many as 18 after three quarters before a 28-19 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 90-99 at the end of the game. Deutsch-Wagram looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. BBU was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for point guard Simon Marek (180-1) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points and 5 assists. Slovakian forward Branislav Balvan (195-0) helped adding 20 points. Deutsch-Wagram's coach Hannes Quirgst used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Greek guard Dimitris Mouratoglou (197-84) with 30 points and 7 rebounds and Spanish forward Guillermo Sanchez (200-91) scored 21 points and 8 rebounds. Five Deutsch-Wagram and four BBU players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Deutsch-Wagram maintains twelfth place with 1-14 record. Loser BBU keeps the ninth position with ten games lost. Deutsch-Wagram will face higher ranked Raiders Tirol (#11) in Innsbruck in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
