Regular Season Round 16: Nevezis - Juventus 78-80

Important game to mention about took place in Kedainiai. Fifth ranked Juventus (8-6) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging 9th ranked Nevezis (4-11) 80-78 on Sunday evening. The guests were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. Juventus dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Nevezis' 26. The winners were led by American point guard Shannon Scott (191-92, college: Ohio St.) who scored that evening 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and power forward Julius Jucikas (205-89, agency: Agency) supported him with 12 points and 8 rebounds. Four Juventus players scored in double figures. Even 20 points, 5 assists and 4 steals by point guard Laurynas Beliauskas (192-97) did not help to save the game for Nevezis. DR Congolese center Viny Okouo (215-97) added 9 points and 15 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Juventus have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 8-6 record. Nevezis at the other side keeps the ninth place with 11 games lost. Juventus will play against league's leader Zalgiris in Kaunas in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Nevezis will play at home against P.Zvaigzdes (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
