Regular Season Round 15: Timberwolves - St.Poelten 105-100

Timberwolves' fans can finally celebrate the first win of their team after 14 consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked UBC St. Poelten (10-5) 105-100 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 6 points after three quarters before their 26-20 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Timberwolves had a 20-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists. It was a good game for point guard Jakob Szkutta (188-99) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!), 5 rebounds, 12 assists and 7 steals. Forward Peter Hofbauer (193-98) contributed with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Timberwolves' coach Hubert Schmidt used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The former international forward Florian Trmal (199-89, agency: Dynamics Global Management) answered with 34 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds and Serbian center Marko Kolaric (213-84, college: Chaminade) added 9 points, 15 rebounds and 4 blocks in the effort for UBC St. Poelten. Five Timberwolves and four UBC St. Poelten players scored in double figures. Timberwolves maintains tenth place with 1-14 record. Newly promoted UBC St. Poelten keeps the fifth position with five games lost. Timberwolves are looking forward to face higher ranked Dukes (#4) in Klosterneuburg in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. UBC St. Poelten will play at home against Gunners Oberwart and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
