Regular Season Round 12: Canik Belediye - Elazig 56-96

Bottom-ranked Canik Belediye is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 11th consecutive match to sixth ranked Elazig (6-5) 96-56. Elazig outrebounded Canik Belediye 43-26 including a 39-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Canik Belediye's players. Worth to mention a great performance of Czech-American power forward Kia Vaughn (193-87, college: Rutgers, agency: Wasserman) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and Croatian Iva Slonjsak (183-97) who added 20 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) during the contest. Four Elazig players scored in double figures. Elazig's coach felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American guard Rebecca Harris (173-86, college: Illinois) with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Aysu Keskin scored 11 points and 4 assists. Elazig moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Kayseri and Cankaya. Canik Belediye at the other side still closes the standings with 11 games lost. Elazig will play against league's leader Fenerbahce in Istanbul in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Canik Belediye will play on the road against Besiktas (#8) in Istanbul and hopes to get finally their first victory.
