Regular Season Round 14: Bayreuth - Giessen 46ers 115-99

There was a minor upset when 12th ranked Giessen 46ers (4-8) were defeated on the road by fourteenth ranked BBC Bayreuth (5-8) 115-99. BBC Bayreuth dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Giessen 46ers' 30 and made 23-of-25 charity shots (92.0 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for BBC Bayreuth especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 32 assists. Giessen 46ers were plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. Americans were the main players on the court. Forward Reid Travis (203-95, college: Kentucky) notched 30 points and 6 rebounds to lead the effort and guard James Woodard (191-94, college: Tulsa) supported him with 26 points and 6 assists. Even 24 points and 7 rebounds by forward Jordan Barnett (201-95, college: Missouri) did not help to save the game for Giessen 46ers. Point guard Stephen Brown (180-96, college: Bucknell) added 24 points and 7 assists for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Giessen 46ers' coach Ingo Freyer rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. BBC Bayreuth moved-up to eleventh place. Giessen 46ers at the other side keep the twelfth position with eight games lost. They share it with Fraport SKY and Goettingen. BBC Bayreuth will play against bottom-ranked Mitteldeutscher BC (#17) in Weissenfels in the next round where they are favorite. Giessen 46ers will play on the road against Deutsche Bank Skyliners (#13) in Frankfurt and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
