Another exciting game was again a derby between two teams from Istanbul: Galatasaray (#6) and Arel Univ (#8). Galatasaray (8-7) won against visiting Arel Univ (4-11) 83-68. They outrebounded Arel Univ 51-34 including 17 on the offensive glass. Galatasaray players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. It was an exceptional evening for Tarik Gunay (-1) who led the winners and scored 14 points and 9 rebounds. Ozcan Korkut (-2) accounted for 14 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Four Galatasaray players scored in double figures. Safak Yurdakulu (-1) came up with 30 points and 8 rebounds and Selahattin Yalcin (-1) added 15 points and 5 assists respectively for Arel Univ in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Galatasaray. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Darussafaka and Gelisim Koleji. Arel Univ lost their third game in a row. They keep the eighth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Pinar Karsiyaka and Bursaspor. Galatasaray will play against Turk Telekom (#6) in Ankara in the next round. Arel Univ will play on the road against Tesvikiye and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
