Regular Season Round 12: GDESSA - AD Vagos 57-60

The most exciting game of round 12 in the Liga Femenina took place in Barreiro. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of one of their biggest challengers GDESSA (7-5) to seventh ranked AD Vagos (6-5) 60-57 on Monday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of GDESSA. They outrebounded GDESSA 36-23 including 24 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Doniyah Cliney (181-96, college: S.Carolina) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import guard Brandi Buie (173-96, college: Jacksonville) who added 12 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was Senegalese forward Aya Traore (186-83, college: Purdue) with 13 points and 9 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and guard Ana Faustino (166-1) scored 9 points and 5 rebounds. AD Vagos moved-up to fifth place, which they share with CP Natacao and Benfica. GDESSA at the other side keeps the fourth position with five games lost. AD Vagos is looking forward to face bottom-ranked CAB Madeira (#12) in Funchal in the next round and are hoping to win another game. GDESSA will play on the road against G.S.C. (#10) in Guifoes and is hoping to win this game.
