Regular Season Round 18: Siauliai - Lietkabelis 71-80

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Lietkabelis (11-6) defeated on the road bottom-ranked Siauliai (4-13) 80-71. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 23-12. But Siauliai won second period 21-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Lietkabelis had a 26-13 advantage in offensive rebounds. Croatian forward Zeljko Sakic (204-88, agency: BeoBasket) notched 21 points and 8 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international center Martynas Sajus (208-96) supported him with 18 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Lietkabelis' coach Nenad Canak allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 13 points and 8 rebounds by center Benas Griciunas (213-94, college: EWU) did not help to save the game for Siauliai. American point guard Keron DeShields (190-92, college: Tennessee St., agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) added 16 points and 4 steals. Lietkabelis maintains third position with 11-6 record having five points less than leader Zalgiris. Siauliai lost sixth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 13 games lost.
