Regular Season Round 15: Galitos-Barreiro - Sporting 72-81

LPB top team - Sporting (14-1) managed to deliver another win on Saturday. This time they beat sixth ranked Galitos-Barreiro (7-8) 81-72. Sporting made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American forward James Ellisor (195-90, college: Bemidji St.) who scored 21 points and 6 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Ty Toney (190-94, college: EMU) chipped in 14 points. At the other side the best for losing team was naturalized Cape Verdean Ivan Almeida (198-89, college: Stonehill) who recorded a double-double by scoring 13 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and American guard Austin Tilghman (185, college: Monmouth) added 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the tenth consecutive win for Sporting. Newly promoted Sporting maintains first place with 14-1 record, which they share with Benfica. Galitos-Barreiro lost their third game in a row. They keep the sixth position with eight games lost. They share it with Esgueira. Sporting will meet at home Ovarense (#13) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Galitos-Barreiro will play against Illiabum (#12) in Ilhavo and hope to secure a win.
