Regular Season Round 17: Gmunden - Kapfenberg 94-76

The game between closely ranked teams ended with second-ranked Kapfenberg Bulls' (12-5) road loss to first ranked Gmunden Swans (14-3) 76-94 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Gmunden Swans. Kapfenberg Bulls was better in fourth quarter 20-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gmunden Swans looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international point guard Daniel Friedrich (181-92) who scored 27 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. American forward Jordan Loveridge (198-93, college: Utah) chipped in a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Four Gmunden Swans players scored in double figures. American guard Eric McClellan (193-93, college: Gonzaga) produced 20 points and 6 assists and Serbian point guard Bogic Vujosevic (192-92) added 20 points and 5 assists respectively for the guests. Gmunden Swans have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 14-3 record. Defending champion Kapfenberg Bulls dropped to the third position with five games lost. Gmunden Swans will face Hallmann (#7) in Vienna in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Kapfenberg Bulls will play at home against Raiffeisen Flyers Wels (#6) and hope to win that game.
