No shocking result in a game in Istanbul where fourth ranked Galatasaray (11-4) defeated 11th ranked Gaziantep (5-10) 96-84. Galatasaray dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Gaziantep's 38. Galatasaray forced 19 Gaziantep turnovers and outrebounded them 29-18. It was an exceptional evening for American Aaron Harrison (198-94, college: Kentucky) who led the winners and scored 18 points and 5 assists. His fellow American import forward Alex Poythress (203-93, college: Kentucky) accounted for 14 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Serbian power forward Stevan Jelovac (208-89, agency: BeoBasket) came up with 22 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and American guard Jason Rich (191-86) added 21 points and 5 assists respectively for Gaziantep in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Galatasaray. They maintain fourth place with 11-4 record. Gaziantep lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the twelfth position with ten games lost. Galatasaray's next round opponent will be Turk Telekom (#9) in Ankara which should be theoretically an easy game. Gaziantep will play on the road against Afyon Bld in Afyonkarahisar and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
