Very expected game in Weissenfels where 17th ranked Mitteldeutscher BC (2-13) was defeated by eleventh ranked BBC Bayreuth (6-8) 102-88 on Saturday. BBC Bayreuth shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. It was a great evening for forward Lukas Meisner (203-95, college: Columbia) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). American guard James Woodard (191-94, college: Tulsa) helped adding 20 points. BBC Bayreuth's coach Raoul Korner used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American guard Andrew Warren (196-87, college: Bradley) with 21 points and 4 assists and Serbian point guard Jovan Novak (188-94, agency: BeoBasket) scored 6 points and 11 assists. Five BBC Bayreuth and four Mitteldeutscher BC players scored in double figures. BBC Bayreuth moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Braunschweig and Goettingen. Mitteldeutscher BC lost their fifth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with 13 games lost. BBC Bayreuth will meet higher ranked ratiopharm Ulm (#9) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Mitteldeutscher BC will play against BG Goettingen (#11) and hope to secure a win.
