Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both third ranked Dukes and 4th placed Gunners Oberwart had identical 12-4 record. But Gunners Oberwart was not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Klosterneuburg 76-68 on Sunday night. Gunners Oberwart trailed by 11 points at halftime and as many as 14 after three quarters before a 25-19 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 68-76 at the end of the game. Dukes dominated on the defensive end, holding Gunners Oberwart to just 7 points in first quarter. They made 25-of-32 free shots (78.1 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Gunners Oberwart 42-29 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Gunners Oberwart was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was Serbian Predrag Miletic (193-84) who scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. Bosnian power forward Edin Bavcic (209-84, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in 10 points and 8 rebounds. Five Dukes players scored in double figures. Estonian power forward Saimon Sutt (200-95) produced 19 points and the former international guard Sebastian Kaeferle (185-96) added 9 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Dukes have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place. Gunners Oberwart at the other side dropped to the third position with five games lost. Dukes will face UBC St. Poelten (#5) in St.Poelten in the next round. Gunners Oberwart will play on the road against Arkadia Lions in Traiskirchen and hope to win that game.
