Seventh-ranked Hallmann (5-11) made lots of trouble for fifth ranked UBC St. Poelten (11-6) in St.Poelten on Sunday. UBC St. Poelten managed to secure only nine-point victory 101-92. However their fans expected easier game. The hosts trailed by 10 points after three quarters before their 26-16 charge, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time and get a 9-point victory in overtime. UBC St. Poelten outrebounded Hallmann 48-34 including a 18-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Florian Trmal (199-89, agency: Dynamics Global Management) who had a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 16 rebounds. German guard Philip Jalalpoor (188-93, college: UBC, agency: Blacktop Management) chipped in a triple-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 13 assists. Five UBC St. Poelten players scored in double figures. The former international Jason Detrick (195-80, college: Oklahoma) produced 42 points (!!!) and 5 assists and Israeli center Anton Shoutvin (206-89) added 17 points and 13 rebounds respectively for the guests. Newly promoted UBC St. Poelten maintains fifth place with 11-6 record. Hallmann lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with 11 games lost. UBC St. Poelten will face league's second-placed Dukes in Klosterneuburg in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hallmann will play at home against the league's leader Gmunden Swans (#1) and hope to win that game.
