There was no surprise when 10th ranked Yambol (1-13) was crushed on the road by eighth ranked Spartak Pleven (3-11) 84-59. Forward Konstantin Koev (196-91) notched 21 points and 9 rebounds to lead the effort and power forward Dimitar Marincheshki (200-90) supported him with 15 points and 8 rebounds. Four Spartak Pleven players scored in double figures. Even 22 points and 6 rebounds by American point guard Stephen Croone (183-94, college: Furman) did not help to save the game for Yambol. Point guard Darin Ivanov (184-91) added 6 points for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Spartak Pleven maintains eighth position with 3-11 record. Yambol lost ninth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 13 games lost. Spartak Pleven's next round opponent will be higher ranked Cherno More (#6) in Varna and it may be quite challenging game. Yambol will play at home against Chernomorets (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
