Regular Season Round 13: AD Vagos - CAB Madeira 59-55

There was no surprise when 12th ranked CAB Madeira (1-13) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked AD Vagos (7-5) 59-55 on Sunday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when AD Vagos made 8 blocks. American guard Doniyah Cliney (181-96, college: S.Carolina) fired 24 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. International center Susana Carvalheira (187-99) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points, 19 rebounds and 5 blocks. AD Vagos' coach Joao Janeiro used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Center Fatima Figueira (190-1) produced 20 points and 9 rebounds and American guard Aliyah Mazyck (175-96, college: USC) added 12 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. AD Vagos moved-up to fifth place. CAB Madeira lost their fourth game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with 13 games lost. AD Vagos will face league's second-placed Lombos Quinta in Carcavelos in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. CAB Madeira will play at home against G.S.C. (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
