Regular Season Round 14: Vaerlose - Amager 51-67

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Amager (10-2) beat on the road 6th ranked Vaerlose (3-8) 67-51 on Wednesday. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Amager's pressure prevailed and they won that period 21-7 extending their advantage to 16 points. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Vaerlose to just 7 points in fourth quarter. Amager forced 20 Vaerlose turnovers. American forward Ruth Sherrill (183-94, college: Temple) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds. International forward Elisabeth Hansen (177-93) contributed with 9 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. International center Julianna Okosun (194-1) replied with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds and international swingman Frida Formann (179-1) added 11 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Vaerlose. Defending champion maintains second position with 10-2 record having four points less than leader Horsholm. Vaerlose at the other side dropped to the fifth place with eight games lost. Amager will face bottom-ranked Lemvig (#7) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Vaerlose will play against Herlev and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
