Regular Season Round 27: Gargzdu - Zalgiris II 66-71

Very expected game in Gargzdai where 11th ranked Gargzdu (10-15) was defeated by seventh ranked Zalgiris II (12-13) 71-66. Zalgiris II outrebounded Gargzdu 45-33 including a 22-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for forward Erikas Venskus (205-0) who led the winners and scored 16 points and 9 rebounds. Forward Paulius Murauskas (200-4) accounted for 8 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Zalgiris II's coach Arvydas Gronskis allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Laurynas Mikalauskas (205-85, college: Virginia) came up with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists and swingman Mantas Ruikis (197-85) added 15 points and 5 assists respectively for Gargzdu in the defeat. Four Gargzdu players scored in double figures. Zalgiris II moved-up to sixth place. Gargzdu at the other side keeps the eleventh position with 15 games lost. Zalgiris II's next round opponent will be higher ranked Neptunas-Akv. (#4) in Klaipeda and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Gargzdu will play on the road against Jonava (#13) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
