Regular Season Round 15: Mamak - Balikesir 90-76

We should mention about the upset which took place in Mamak, where 4th placed Balikesir (9-6) lost to eleventh ranked Mamak (8-7) in a road game 76-90. Mamak shot the lights out from three nailing 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. 26 personal fouls committed by Balikesir helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was an exceptional evening for forward Mustafa Gorur (204-88) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 14 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Swingman Ogun Sevinc (198-88) accounted for 21 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Four Mamak players scored in double figures. American point guard Myles Mack (178-93, college: Rutgers, agency: HMS) came up with 25 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and guard Gokhan Aydin (191-95) added 15 points respectively for Balikesir in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Mamak moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Bornova Bld and Konyaspor. Newly promoted Balikesir dropped to the third position with six games lost. Mamak's next round opponent will be higher ranked Final Spor (#8) in Bursa and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Balikesir's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Balikesir to the arena Bandirma BK.
