Regular Season Round 15: Schwelm EN - Bochum 109-115

The most surprising game was another loss of top-ranked SG Schwelmer Baskets (11-4) at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by fifth ranked SparkassenStars (9-6) 115-109. SparkassenStars made 41-of-45 free shots (91.1 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 SG Schwelmer Baskets turnovers and outrebounded them 42-26 including 19 on the offensive glass. 37 personal fouls committed by SG Schwelmer Baskets helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for British guard Conner Washington (183-92) who led his team to a victory scoring 42 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 6 assists (went 17 for 17 at the free throw line !!!). American center Zach Haney (211-96, college: Boise St.) helped adding 33 points (!!!) and 16 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Bulgarian guard Milen Zahariev (190-92) with 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Danish swingman David Knudsen (196-94, college: Marist) scored 23 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. SG Schwelmer Baskets' coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. SparkassenStars have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to third place in North, which they share with Bernau and BSW Sixers. SG Schwelmer Baskets at the other side still keep top position with four games lost. SparkassenStars is looking forward to face Titans (#8) in Dresden in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. SG Schwelmer Baskets will play on the road against Duesseldorf (#10) and are hoping to win this game.
