Regular Season Round 14: Elazig - Izmit 69-87

There was a small surprise when seventh ranked Izmit (7-6) defeated on the road one of their biggest challengers Elazig (7-6) 87-69. American guard Courtney Williams (173-94, college: S.Florida) notched a double-double by scoring 29 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals to lead the effort and the other American import power forward Kristine Anigwe (193-97, college: California) supported her with 19 points and 15 rebounds. Four Izmit players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 34 points (!!!), 16 rebounds and 5 assists by Czech-American power forward Kia Vaughn (193-87, college: Rutgers, agency: Wasserman) did not help to save the game for Elazig. American point guard Riquna Williams (170-90, college: Miami, FL) added 22 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the hosts. Izmit moved-up to fifth place, which they share with defeated Elazig. Izmit's next round opponent will be Besiktas (#8) in Istanbul. Elazig will play on the road against Kayseri and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
