Regular Season Round 15: Vechta 2 - Stade 97-79

There was a surprise result when eleventh ranked Vechta-2 (4-9) beat at home higher ranked Stade (6-7) 97-79 on Saturday. Vechta-2 looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Stade's players. It was a good game for the former international power forward Philipp Herkenhoff (208-99, agency: Scorers 1st Sportmanagement) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 7 rebounds, 11 assists and 4 steals. American guard Ryan Quaid (203, college: W.Texas A&M) contributed with 26 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field) for the winners. Vechta-2's coach Marius Graf allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American forward Reco McCarter (198-90, college: Campbell) answered with 18 points and 9 rebounds and Spanish point guard Nil Angelats (185-93) added 19 points and 6 assists in the effort for Stade. Five Vechta-2 and four Stade players scored in double figures. Vechta-2 moved-up to ninth place in North, which they share with Bergedorf and Bramsche TuS. Stade lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with seven games lost. Vechta-2 will face Weser Baskets (#13) in Neustadt in the next round.
