Regular Season Round 16: Terceira - CAB Madeira 74-100

Bottom-ranked Terceira (0-16) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 16th consecutive match to tenth ranked CAB Madeira (6-10) 100-74. CAB Madeira outrebounded Terceira 48-31 including a 37-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three nailing 13 long-distance shots on high 56.5 percentage. The winners were led by Lithuanian forward Arvydas Gydra (206-89) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 22 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and American guard George Beamon (193-91, college: Manhattan) supported him with 26 points and 6 rebounds. Four CAB Madeira players scored in double figures. CAB Madeira's coach Joao Silva felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 23 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists by American guard Andre Yates (188-94, college: Benedictine, KS) did not help to save the game for Terceira. His fellow American import forward Jalen McCallum (203-95, college: LaGrange) added 21 points and 8 rebounds for lost side. CAB Madeira moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Barreirense and Lusitania. Terceira at the other side still closes the standings. CAB Madeira will play against higher ranked Vitoria SC (#5) in Guimaraes in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Terceira will play on the road against Galitos-Barreiro (#6) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
