There was no surprise when 8th ranked Pitesti (2-11) was defeated on the road by third ranked Sibiu (8-5) 78-73 on Saturday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 78-73. American power forward Chris Cooper (205-90, college: ODU) fired a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. His fellow American import power forward Randal Falker (201-85, college: SIU) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks. Five Sibiu players scored in double figures. American point guard Cameron Rundles (188-88, college: Wofford) produced 20 points and 4 assists and Serbian forward Danilo Tasic (207-93) added 11 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Pitesti's coach Hristu Sapera tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Sibiu maintains third place in Nationala with 8-5 record having just three points less than leader Oradea. Loser Pitesti keeps the eighth position with 11 games lost. Sibiu will face Timisoara (#5) on the road in the next round. Pitesti will play against CS Dinamo Bucuresti and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
