Regular Season Round 15: Levski Lukoil - Academic 101-69

Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Sofia: Levski Lukoil (#2) and Academic (#7). Levski Lukoil (14-1) crushed visiting Academic (5-10) by 32 points 101-69. Levski Lukoil dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Academic's 26. Levski Lukoil forced 19 Academic turnovers and outrebounded them 43-32 including a 35-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Levski Lukoil players were unselfish on offense dishing 32 assists. It was a great evening for Canadian power forward Ryan Wright (205-87, college: Oklahoma) who led his team to a victory scoring 27 points and 9 rebounds (perfect from the field making all ten shots !!!). The former international swingman Hristo Zahariev (198-90) helped adding 22 points and 6 rebounds. Four Levski Lukoil players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Nikolay Grozev (200-94) with 17 points and the former international power forward Tsvetomir Chernokojev (206-0) scored 10 points and 9 rebounds. Academic's coach Georgi Davidov gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Levski Lukoil have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Balkan. Academic lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with ten games lost. Levski Lukoil will play against league's leader Balkan in Botevgrad in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Academic will play at home against Yambol (#10) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
