Leader Voluntari delivered the twelfth victory on Saturday night. This time they crushed 7th ranked Miercurea Ciuc (3-10) 90-70. The game was mostly controlled by Voluntari. Miercurea Ciuc was better in fourth quarter 23-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Voluntari dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Miercurea Ciuc's 36. They outrebounded Miercurea Ciuc 48-28 including 19 on the offensive glass. Voluntari looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Miercurea Ciuc's players. Mali-Canadian guard Mambi Diawara (194-94, college: Calgary) produced 25 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals and Canadian forward Meshack Lufile (203-92, college: Cape Breton) added 18 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Five Voluntari and four Miercurea Ciuc players scored in double figures. Voluntari maintains first place in Nationala with 12-1 record. Loser Miercurea Ciuc keeps the seventh position with ten games lost. Voluntari will face Targu Jiu (#6) in Mures in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Miercurea Ciuc will play on the road against Focsani and hope to win that game.
