Regular Season Round 20: Schalke - Art.Dragons 62-46

Date: January 13, 2020
Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both fifteenth ranked Schalke and 16th ranked Artland Dragons had identical 5-13 record. This time Schalke used a home court advantage and won against the opponent from Quakenbrueck 62-46 on Monday night. Schalke outrebounded Artland Dragons 39-27 including 26 on the defensive glass. Artland Dragons were plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Courtney Belger (187-89, college: Quincy) who helped to win the game recording 19 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and center Bjoern Rohwer (213-95) who added 9 points and 15 rebounds during the contest. Schalke's coach Alexander Osipovich allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American guard Pierre Bland (188-92, college: PFW) responded with 14 points and 7 rebounds and Nigerian-American forward Enuoma Ebinum (206-94, college: Bowie St., agency: HMS) scored 8 points and 7 rebounds. Schalke (6-13) moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with Karlsruhe PS. Loser Artland Dragons keep the sixteenth position with 14 games lost. Schalke will face higher ranked Science City Jena (#3) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Artland Dragons will play against the league's second-placed Eisbaeren Bremerhaven (#2) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
