Regular Season Round 11: Cherkasy - K.Sokoly 91-77

There was no surprise when 9th ranked K.Sokoly (1-16) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked Cherkasy (9-8) 91-77 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by Cherkasy. K.Sokoly was better in fourth quarter 22-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded K.Sokoly 35-21 including a 23-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. Cherkasy looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Jaylin Airington (193-93, college: CSU Bakersfield, agency: 3Eye) who scored 18 points and 7 assists. His fellow American import forward Dion Wright (201-93, college: St.Bonaventure) chipped in 15 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Four Cherkasy players scored in double figures. American guard Kareem Jamar (194-92, college: Montana) produced 16 points and forward Olexandr Tarasenko (203-96) added 9 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Cherkasy. They maintain fifth place with 9-8 record, which they share with Odessa. K.Sokoly lost their sixth game in a row. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom position with 16 games lost. Cherkasy will face Odessa (#6) on the road in the next round. K.Sokoly will play against Zaporizhye and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
