Regular Season Round 11: Frankivsk - Chaika 82-64

Bottom-ranked Frankivsk managed to get a second victory, breaking the series of ten consecutive losses on Saturday night. This time they won against fifth-ranked Chaika in Ivano-Frankivsk 82-64. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 18-point difference suggests that Frankivsk is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Chaika. The game was mostly controlled by Frankivsk. Chaika managed to win fourth quarter 19-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was forward Anna Gvichiani (168-99) who scored 26 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Power forward Daryna Dubrovska (190-99) chipped in 18 points. Frankivsk's coach Yuriy Protsuk used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Vlada Gozalova produced 27 points and 5 rebounds and power forward Valeriia Desiatnyk (187-0) added 8 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Frankivsk maintains sixth place with 2-10 record. Loser Chaika keeps the fifth position with ten games lost. Frankivsk will meet league's second-placed Dynamo-NPU in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Chaika will have a break next round.
