Regular Season Round 15: Canik Belediye - Hatay 69-97

Date: January 18, 2020
Bottom-ranked Canik Belediye is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 14th consecutive match to tenth ranked Hatay (6-8) 97-69 on Saturday evening. Hatay looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Haley Peters (190-92, college: Duke) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds. International guard Asena Yalcin (170-91) accounted for 12 points and 11 assists for the winning side. Five Hatay players scored in double figures. American center Stephanie Madden (186-88, college: Langston) came up with 21 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import guard Rebecca Harris (173-86, college: Illinois) added 21 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Canik Belediye in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Hatay moved-up to ninth place. Loser Canik Belediye still closes the standings with 14 games lost. Hatay will meet at home league's leader Fenerbahce in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Canik Belediye will play against the league's second-placed Ormanspor (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
