Regular Season Round 21: Art.Dragons - Bremerhaven 99-87

The game between second ranked Eisbaeren Bremerhaven (15-4) and sixteenth ranked Artland Dragons (6-14) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Eisbaeren Bremerhaven was defeated by Artland Dragons in Quakenbrueck 99-87. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Eisbaeren Bremerhaven. Artland Dragons looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by Eisbaeren Bremerhaven helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American guard Chase Griffin (190-83, college: Pepperdine) who scored 25 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Center Robert Oehle (209-88) chipped in 16 points and 9 rebounds. Four Artland Dragons players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Kasey Hill (185-93, college: Florida) who recorded 26 points and 4 assists and the other American import forward Will Vorhees (203-95, college: Notre Dame, OH) added 18 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Artland Dragons moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with Schalke and Karlsruhe PS. Eisbaeren Bremerhaven at the other side keeps the second position with four games lost. Artland Dragons will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Eisbaeren Bremerhaven will play at home against Science City Jena where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
