Regular Season Round 16: Mardin BSB - Istanbul Univ. 66-59

An interesting game for Mardin BSB (12-4) which hosted in their biggest opponent Istanbul Uni (13-4). Third ranked Mardin BSB managed to get a 7-point victory 66-59. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Istanbul Uni. Mardin BSB forced 20 Istanbul Uni turnovers and outrebounded them 45-33 including 33 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Betul Pehlivan (178-88) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points, 13 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals. American forward Dejza James (185-95, college: Arizona) contributed with 24 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Derin Erdogan (168-2) replied with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists and Canadian center Saicha Grant-Allen (196-95, college: Dayton) added 12 points in the effort for Istanbul Uni. Istanbul Uni's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Mardin BSB have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 12-4 record having just two points less than leader Emlak Konut. Istanbul Uni at the other side keeps the second place with four games lost. Mardin BSB are looking forward to face Mersin Uni (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Istanbul Uni will play against Nesibe (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
