There was a small surprise in Tuebingen where thirteenth ranked BV Villingen-Schwenningen (8-12) defeated 10th ranked Walter Tigers (9-11) 88-73 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was American forward Jaren Lewis (198-96, college: Abil.Christian) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists. Point guard Leon Friederici (190-95) chipped in 26 points. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Marvin Smith (198-95, college: UNCG) who recorded a double-double by scoring 13 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import point guard Diante Baldwin (180-94, college: UNCG) added 13 points and 8 assists respectively. Five BV Villingen-Schwenningen and four Walter Tigers players scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for BV Villingen-Schwenningen. Newly promoted BV Villingen-Schwenningen maintains thirteenth place with 8-12 record. Loser Walter Tigers keep the tenth position with 11 games lost. BV Villingen-Schwenningen will face higher ranked Phoenix Hagen (#12) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
