Rather expected game when 14th ranked Lions (6-14) were defeated on the road by twelfth ranked Rostock (9-11) 80-70 on Sunday. Rostock made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Rostock outrebounded Lions 38-27 including 28 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American swingman Donte Nicholas (196-87, college: Fresno Pacific) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import forward Grant Sitton (206-93, college: Victoria) chipped in 22 points. Four Rostock players scored in double figures. Rostock's coach Dirk Bauermann used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. At the other side the best for losing team was Niclas Sperber (201-96) who recorded 16 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and American forward Brandon Conley (201-93, college: ORU) added 14 points respectively. Rostock moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Tuebingen. Lions lost their third game in a row. They keep the fourteenth position with 14 games lost. Rostock will face higher ranked Nuernberg (#7) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Lions will play against Ehingen/Urspringschule (#17) and hope to win that game.
