Regular Season Round 9: Braunschweig - Chemnitz 86-56

Date: January 19, 2020
We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when sixth ranked Braunschweig (3-6) outscored at home 5th ranked NINERS (3-6) 86-56 on Sunday. Braunschweig dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to NINERS's 22. Braunschweig forced 26 NINERS turnovers and outrebounded them 44-30 including 29 on the defensive glass. NINERS was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Point guard Simon Roosch (198-1) stepped up and scored 20 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winners and Dutch point guard Sven Cikara (188-1) chipped in 18 points and 8 assists. Four Braunschweig players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was point guard Kevin Kollmar (189-2) with 16 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Yannick Von Hain (180-2) scored 14 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Braunschweig moved-up to fourth place in B North-East, which they share with Goettingen and Chemnitz. NINERS lost their sixth game in a row. Braunschweig will face Goettingen (#5) at home in the next round. NINERS will play against MBA and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
