Regular Season Round 15: Zalgiris II - Panevezio 72-97

Very expected game in Kaunas where 10th ranked Zalgiris II (4-10) was crushed by third ranked Panevezio (10-2) 97-72 on Tuesday. The game without a history. Panevezio led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Zalgiris II's 42. Panevezio looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a great evening for Augustas Gaivenis (-3) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists. Zanas Zabulis (-2) helped adding 13 points and 5 assists. Five Panevezio players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was guard Matas Masiliunas (179-2) with 17 points and 5 assists and forward Vytautas Cepas (193-2) scored 11 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Panevezio maintains third place with 10-2 record having six points less than leader V.Knasiaus KM. Loser Zalgiris II keeps the tenth position with ten games lost. Panevezio will face Tornado KM (#5) in Kaunas in the next round. Zalgiris II's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Kaunas to the arena Zalgiris U18.
