Bottom-ranked Terceira (0-17) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 96-94 loss to sixth ranked Galitos-Barreiro (9-8) in Barreiro on Saturday evening. They made 25-of-33 free shots (75.8 percent) during the game. Galitos-Barreiro outrebounded Terceira 46-27 including 33 on the defensive glass. American guard Austin Tilghman (185, college: Monmouth) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!), 14 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and his fellow American import center Connor McClenaghan (206, college: Marist) chipped in 16 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Galitos-Barreiro maintains sixth place with 9-8 record. Terceira lost their seventeenth game in a row. They still close the standings. Galitos-Barreiro will meet CAB Madeira (#10) in the next round. Terceira will play against Ovarense (#11) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
