An exciting game was played in Klosterneuburg. Dukes faced Gunners Oberwart. Host Dukes (16-4) defeated guests from Oberwart (13-7) 91-83. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Gunners Oberwart won fourth quarter 23-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Dukes shot 66.0 percent from the field. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. Gunners Oberwart was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international point guard Valentin Bauer (183-94, college: Mars Hill) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 assists. Forward Jurica Blazevic (199-94, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 21 points (perfect from downtown making all five shots) for the winners. Five Dukes players scored in double figures. Lithuanian swingman Andrius Mikutis (194-88, college: John Brown, agency: Players Group) replied with 20 points and 7 rebounds and American guard Lawrence Alexander (190-91, college: NDSU) added 24 points in the effort for Gunners Oberwart. Gunners Oberwart's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Dukes will play against Kapfenberg Bulls (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Gunners Oberwart will play against Gmunden Swans and hopes to get back on the winning track.
