Not a big story in a game when 15th ranked Schalke (6-15) lost at home to tenth ranked Walter Tigers (10-11) 85-77 on Saturday. Walter Tigers dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Schalke's 30. They outrebounded Schalke 43-28 including a 35-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. American forward Justin Strings (201-96, college: Sacramento St.) notched a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds to lead the effort and the other American import point guard Diante Baldwin (180-94, college: UNCG) supported him with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Five Walter Tigers players scored in double figures. Walter Tigers' coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 18 points and 7 rebounds by American guard Courtney Belger (187-89, college: Quincy) did not help to save the game for Schalke. Power forward Johannes Joos (206-95) added 18 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. Walter Tigers moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Kirchheim. Loser Schalke dropped to the sixteenth position with 15 games lost. Walter Tigers will meet league's second-placed Eisbaeren Bremerhaven on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Schalke will play against Ehingen/Urspringschule (#17) in Allmendingen and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
