The most important game of round 1 took place in where Voluntari crushed Medias (0-1) 113-76 on Saturday night. The game without a history. Voluntari led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot 67.2 percent from the field and made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. Voluntari outrebounded Medias 32-18 including a 26-11 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 60.9 percentage. Voluntari looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Montenegrin point guard Goran Martinic (187-87) stepped up and scored 23 points and 7 assists for the winners and Serbian forward Nikola Malesevic (202-89, college: URI, agency: BeoExcell) chipped in 18 points and 9 rebounds. At the losing side the former international point guard Octavian Calota (185-84) responded with 15 points and 5 assists and Serbian power forward Nikola Siladji (208-92) scored 11 points. Five Voluntari and four Medias players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Medias will play next round against Focsani trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Voluntari will try to continue on its current victory against Pitesti on the road.
