Fourteenth-ranked Gemlik (4-12) used its home court advantage to challenge ninth ranked Konyaspor (9-7) in Bursa on Saturday. The visitors from Konya managed to secure only three-point victory 77-74. However their fans expected much easier game. It was a very good performance for Tufan Onen (202-89) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 6 rebounds. American forward Trey Porter (208-96, college: Nevada) contributed with 11 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Konyaspor players scored in double figures. American forward Gary Johnson (201-88, college: Texas) replied with 29 points and 9 rebounds and his fellow American import point guard Diante Watkins (174-90, college: Robert Morris) added 23 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Gemlik. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Konyaspor moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 6 other teams. Gemlik lost sixth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the thirteenth position with 12 games lost. Konyaspor will face Akhisar Bld (#9) at home in the next round. Gemlik will play against Balikesir (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
