There was an upset in Diedorf where 4th placed Topstar (9-7) was edged by twelfth ranked Herzogenaurach (6-9) 73-70 on Saturday. Strangely Topstar outrebounded Herzogenaurach 46-32 including 31 on the defensive glass. Topstar was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was Croatian point guard Vedran Nakic (184-89) who scored 20 points. Austrian swingman Michael Kaiser (195-82) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds. American guard Charlie Brown (185, college: Minn.St.-Mankato, agency: One Motive Sports) produced 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and guard Jonas Sauer (187-99) added 21 points respectively for the hosts. Herzogenaurach moved-up to eleventh place in South-East. Loser Topstar dropped to the fifth position with seven games lost. Herzogenaurach will face higher ranked Jena 2 (#7) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Topstar will play against Muenchen OSB and hope to win that game.
