Regular Season Round 17: Bayern 2 - Baunach 80-72

There was a surprise result when ninth ranked Bayern 2 (7-10) defeated higher ranked Baunach (9-8) in Muenchen 80-72 on Saturday. Bayern 2 had a 30-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Jacob Knauf (210-97) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Point guard Viktor Frankl-Maus (186-93) contributed with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Bayern 2's coach Demond Greene allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Moritz Plescher (195-0, agency: Scorers 1st Sportmanagement) answered with 18 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Marvin Heckel (190-97) added 17 points and 6 assists in the effort for Baunach. Four Baunach players scored in double figures. Bayern 2 moved-up to eighth place in South, which they share with OrangeAcademy and Fraport SKY 2. Baunach lost their third game in a row. They keep the fifth position with eight games lost. Bayern 2 will face higher ranked White Wings (#5) in Hanau in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Baunach will play on the road against OrangeAcademy in Ulm and hope to win that game and get promotion back to the ProA just one year after relegation.
