Twelfth-ranked Fenerbahce G. (6-11) made lots of trouble for second ranked Istanbul Uni (14-5) on Sunday. The visitors managed to secure only three-point victory 70-67. However their fans expected much easier game. Istanbul Uni made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. Istanbul Uni outrebounded Fenerbahce G. 39-24 including a 28-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Canadian center Saicha Grant-Allen (196-95, college: Dayton) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 13 rebounds. Point guard Derin Erdogan (168-2) chipped in 20 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Ukrainian center Olena Staschuk (192-85, agency: 1andBox Sports Agency) who recorded a double-double by scoring 27 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and swingman Merve Ari (180-98, agency: 1andBox Sports Agency) added 10 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Istanbul Uni maintains second position with 14-5 record behind leader Emlak Konut. Newly promoted Fenerbahce G. keeps the twelfth place with 11 games lost. They share the position with Botas. Istanbul Uni are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Urla BLD (#16) in Izmir in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Fenerbahce G. will play on the road against Mersin Uni (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
